Water is our most precious resource. We can survive without it.
We are going to explore where it comes from and how we use it.
Water falls from the sky as rain. Rain is also called precipitation. It flows down mountain sides and hills. It ends up in rivers and seas.
The water in the sea is heated by the sun. It turns into vapour and rises. This is called evaporation. When the vapour hits cold air in the sky it forms clouds. The clouds get heavier and heavier until it rains and the cycle starts again.
Have a look at this picture of the water cycle. Look at how the arrows point in one direction. It is constantly flowing.
